Simple application for dark smokey eye makeup?

I am not too advanced when it comes to eye makeup. I love the dark smokey eye look but I don't know how to apply it. I have brown hair and blue eyes. I prefer the charcoal/grey/black colors.

I have tried to create the smokey look but I think it looks stupid. What is the easiest way to apply?? What products do I need to buy for this look??Simple application for dark smokey eye makeup?
You will need three eye colors: a highlight, mid-tone and a contour. A GOOD eyeshadow brush (I love MAC, Smashbox, and Stila....but Sonia Kushuk's from Target are phenomenal on a budget.)

The 'highlight color' is a light fleshy color, you should get one with a shimmer! (I.E. MAC Eyeshadow in Nylon).

Your 'mid-tone' should be a pretty silver/grey.

The 'contour color' should be a dark grey/charcoal...maybe even black. Urban Decay has a gorgeous black with a little bit of glimmer called ';Oil Slick';.

So how do you achieve a Smokey eye? Three simple steps.

Apply the highlight shadow to the brow bone and to the duct of the eye.

Next apply a mid-tone from lash line to crease, blend where it meets the highlight. (Use a windshield wiper motion with the brush vertical)

Then apply the contour color starting at the lash line and blend it up towards the crease so it blends with the mid-tone. It should look like it softly fades from light to dark.

Smudge the contour color along the bottom lash line as well.

Finish the look by applying eyeliner to the top and bottom lash line.

Curl your lashes, add your favorite mascara and you are set!Simple application for dark smokey eye makeup?
put black eye liner on and rub it with a qtip
heres a great video that shows you how:

You can get a very exhaustive explanation on how to create a smokey look in this short video: http://www.doctissimo.fr/html/beaute/reportages-tv/lecons-maquillage/maquillage-oeil-charbonneux.htm

This is a makeup demonstration video in French but you can get the meaning very easily.

Basically, you need a black khol eyeliner pencil + dark grey eyeshadow (powder better than cream) + white or light eyeshadow powder + black mascara.

I tried and got a lovely result!

VoilĂ ! Bon courage

Cheers
What i do is get a eyeshadow set with those colours in.

Normally

Black

charcol/grey

and white..ish.

i get a eyeshadow brush and dap the black along my eye..close the eyelashes.

Then i blend in the charcol/grey just above the black..

then simply finish it off with the white..by brushing it over the whole eyelid gently..so its all blended in.
