Go to Barnes and Noble and check out Kevin Aucoin's books. My friend is a makeup artist and has his books...love them. He was the best makeup artist ever...he died a few years ago. :-(

I've just suddenly remembered a book that my friend has, it's called Make-up Artistry by Julia Conway - I think it will help you, it's really detailed yet simple to understand.
